AFC Leopards midfielder Collins Shichenje will by the end of this week complete a move to Greek Super League side PAOK Thessaloniki it has been confirmed.

The 21-year-old Kenya international opted out of the Emerging Stars squad that touched down this morning in Ethiopia for the CECAFA Challenge Cup to formalize his much anticipated move.

The lanky midfielder signed for AFC Leopards in 2019 from Green Commandos who were then participating in the FKF National Super League(NSL)

Bebeto as he is commonly known broke into the first team in 2020 and his combative style of play earned him many admirers across the globe.

“I opted not to travel to Ethiopia as I'm finalizing the deal to PAOK,” Shichenje told TeamKenya on Wednesday afternoon.

“It will be a new challenge for me but I will try my best to ensure that I hit ground fast,” he said.

In February 2021, Shichenje had a chance to join the Greek giants but the deal fell through because of the travel restriction owed to the current Covid-19 pandemic. This time round, the Ingwe number 21 will surely get his wish granted as everything has been set and ready for him.

“Indeed it has been a tough time but I chose to concentrate with Leopards and right now I am ready to try out the new adventure,” he added.

PAOK finished 4th in the Greek Super League behind Olympiakos, Aris and AEK Athens. Among the notable players at the club are former Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa and Brazilian midfielder Douglas.
