With New additions (Willy Ambaka) to the Kenya Rugby sevens team, the team has its training sessions more intensified as they held their 2nd session today at an outdoor facility in Kurume City. The squad is in great shape as there are no names currently in the injury list.
The squad that currently consists of 13 players led by skipper Andrew Amonde is in high spirits despite the hot weather conditions and humidity that range from 28°C to 33°C. Shujaa will be facing off against the USA in the opener match that is set for July 26th at the Tokyo Stadium. More to the fixture is the familiar face of USA's Mike Friday who coached the Kenyan squad back in 2013.
Later on the same day, Shujaa will then face off against South Africa and finish it off with Ireland on 27th July. Having been asked whether the Irish will be the underdogs of the Pool C table, Simiyu replied, "No no no……!! Ireland is a very good team, even before they came to the core series they made the semi-finals of the world series a couple of times, I think twice before they became a core team, they won the series qualifier, they won the repechage, so they are quiet a good team and they play a very expansive game. It will be interesting to see who comes out of the pool"
