Tusker’s title charge continued on Tuesday afternoon after they stretched their lead at the top of the Betking Premier League table despite a 0-0 draw with bottom placed Mathare United at the Ruaraka grounds.

The tense match saw both sides miss opportunities to score and the result was favourable for both teams.

Tusker, who had won their previous three matches, faced a tough Mathare side that knew that a win would take them to within a point of survival.

The result will ease some pressure on Mathare United who have been rooted at the bottom of the log since the start of the second leg.

In Thika, Bidco failed to capitalise on their home advantage as they were held to  a 2-2 draw by visiting Bandari FC.

Anthony Akhulia’s side scored two first half goals but a steady collapse in the second half allowed Bandari to get back into the game and secure a vital point on the road.

David Orem gave Bidco the lead from the spot in the 12th minute of the game before Alex ‘Keke’ Juma got his first of the season in the 43rd minute to extend the lead.

A red card to David Kalama in the second half weakened Bidco and it was Ugandan William Wadri who ensured that the visitors went home with a point when he sent Omar Adisa the wrong way from the spot.

Umaru Kasumba had halved the deficit in the 49th minute of the game after good work by Kenya international Abdallah Hassan.

There was drama in Nakuru as AFC Leopards title hopes went up in smoke after a denting 3-2 defeat to lowly Western Stima.

The hosts who are trying to escape the chop scored two quick fire goals in the 13th and 15th minute to give Juma Abdallah a handsome first half lead.

Michael Karamor scored the opener for Stima when he pounced on a loose ball inside Leopards box to score the opener. Robert Mudenyu then gifted the hosts the second when he handled the ball inside the box for a penalty that was dispatched by Baron Oketch.

Collins Shivachi halved the deficit in the 87th minute of the game but Geoffrey Ojunga scored Stima’s third moments later. Bonface Mukheke scored Ingwe’s second deep inside injury time but it was enough to help the limping Leopards secure a point on the road.
