The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stated that clubs which haven’t met licensing requirements will be barred from competing in continental assignments.

The latest announcement has put Gor Mahia’s participation in the CAF Confederations Cup next season hanging in the balance for they are yet to fulfill most of the demands tabled by the continental football governing body.

CAF earlier on this week, wrote  to the outgoing Kenya champions who will be representing the country in the CAF Confederations Cup demanding them to show compliance with orders earlier issued by the continental body before being allowed to play in the competition.

One of the orders is that the club must either pay its former players and coaches their debts or convince CAF it has reached a payment schedule with the said players.

Gor have also been asked to furnish it with audited accounts for the past year and also the list of the technical bench staff with their qualifications.

With less than a month to go before the start of the CAF inter-club competitions draw, K’Ogalo have been found between a rock and a hard place as they try put everything in order.

Moneys owed to former player Dickson Ambundo and former coach Stephen Pollack are just some of the issues that need to be addressed in the next few weeks if the 19-time Kenya champions are to grace continental football next season.

Gor Mahia boss Ambrose Rachier has confirmed receiving the communication from CAF through the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

‘’CAF wants us to show compliance before we can be cleared to play at the CAF Confederations Cup. They want assurance that we have settled debts we owe our former players and a tactician who reported us for failing to pay them after leaving the club,’’ said Rachier.

The club has meanwhile struggled to keep afloat its best talent and recently lost former captain Kenneth Muguna to Tanzania side Azam FC.
