Lioness Bundled out of Medal Contention in Tokyo

The Kenya Sevens Women Rugby team, Lioness, have been knocked out of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after losing their third match to Great Britain. 

Lioness who were making their debut at the Summer Games lost 31-0  to the more experienced Britons to finish fourth in Pool A.

The result means that they out on quarterfinal qualification in the women’s rugby sevens competition at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The British led 17-0 at the break before adding two converted second half ties to claim the result and quarterfinal qualification.

They scored their tries through Jasmine Joyce (2), Abi Burton, Megan Jones and Lisa Thomson. Natasha Hunt, Helena Rowland and Holly Hutchinson each kicked over a conversion.

The Lionesses will now play in the 9th place classification semifinal.
