
Kenyan Shooters were on target this past weekend as they held out their first Tier 1 match dubbed 'Dry Run'. The event saw top Kenyan Shooters test out their skills ahead of the much anticipated Continental Championships slated for 2nd September 2021.
The 'Dry Run' which took place at the Kirigiti shooting range saw 100 registered Shooters taking part, 40 of them being officers drawn from the National disciplined forces. The shooting event was conducted under strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols and saw both seasoned shooters battle it out with novice firearm holders.
"Today's shoot is a countdown to the African Champs that will be happening in about 30 days. This is the main event before the championship and the turnout has been great. We are expecting nothing less than 200 shooters in the championship." Said National Gun Owners Association (NGOA-K) chairman, Martin Chengo. Chengo also confirmed that 30 international shooters have confirmed their participation in the championship, among them, 15 from South Africa, 4 from Asia, 2 from USA and 1 from Switzerland. Top Shooters who impressed during the 'Dry Run' were Mohammad Omar and match director for the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) African Championship, Engineer Sammy Onyango.
