Harambee Starlets forward Esse Akida has returned to Women Premier League (WPL) side Thika Queens from Turkish giants Besiktas on a one-year deal.
The 28 year-old speedy winger who joined Besiktas in February 2020 has previously spent one and a half years with Israeli top-flight side Ramat Hasharon.
Akida announced her delight in signing the new deal and said that she was longing to wear the famous red jersey again.
“Delighted to announce that I have rejoined WPL’s Thika Queens. This has always been home. Can’t wait to get going,” wrote on Twitter.
Before turning pro, she plied her trade for Spedag FC before joining Thika Queens.
Earlier on in the season, Harambee Starlets midfielder Corazone Aquino rejoined Gaspo Youth after a one-year stint with Portuguese top-tier side Atletico Ouriense.
Meanwhile, the Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League(FKF WPL) second leg resumes this weekend with several matches on the cards.
High flying Ulinzi Starlets will be looking to avenge a 2-1 loss at the hands of Thika Queens in the first leg when the two sides face off on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Thika Stadium.
