Kariobangi Sharks FC defender Samuel Olwande is set to undergo a surgery on his right knee after suffering a cartilage tear.
The surgery will be done on Thursday April 14 meaning that he will not play again this season.
The 32 year-old who joined Sharks from rivals Mathare United in 2019 has been a key member to William Muluya’s side and his fine form that year earned him a maiden call up to the national soccer team Harambee Stars.
He would then make his debut for Stars that year and was part of the team that drew 1-1 with Egypt away and Togo at home, while playing at right back position.
Olwande is one of the few players who have traversed the country in search of greener pastures but his time at Kariobangi Sharks has been the most successful. In 2019, he marshalled the defence as Sharks stunned English Premier League giants Everton to clinch the Sportpesa Cup at the Kasarani Stadium.
Other clubs he has featured for include Oserian Fastac, Chemelil Sugar(now defunct), Tusker FC and Mathare United.
