AFC Leopard are not among the top contenders for the 2021/2022 FKF Premier League title. They currently sit 10th on the log. Ingwe have had their fair share of challenges. However, the team has been attracting the highest number of fans to their matches.

Since the government lifted pandemic restrictions to contain the pandemic, Ingwe have seen fans flock to the stadiums in enviable numbers.

According to the club's management and also the players, the presence of fans in huge numbers during matches appears to have reignited the Ingwe power.

“We have a media team, we are trying to invest in them and we are trying to tell our fans that we can revive AFC if they will be coming to the stadiums.

“It's unfortunate we have played some very good matches in an empty stadium,” AFC Chairman Dan Shikanda noted.

In their 23 matches played, AFC have only registered seven wins, drawing 10 times and losing six games.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, one of Ingwe's supporters noted that the presence of fans is attributed to good results and stability at the club.

“Positive results and fan attendance at Ingwe are usually mutually exclusive. You might realise that the Ingwe squad is also young, so even a draw against some of the big teams is a positive result, and that keeps them coming.

“If there are wrangles, then fans also shy away. But you might realise that lately, there have been no wrangles at the team, and that's why,” an AFC Leopard fan noted

Another supporter attributed the drones of fans to Ingwe’s matches to the time and venue where the team plays.

“An important factor is Nyayo Stadium and Sundays. Lately, all Ingwe matches are played at Nyayo on Sunday.

“It's a strategic move. Nyayo is very convenient for Ingwe fans due to its proximity to the CBD and on Sundays, most of us are off work,” another fan noted.

Back in February 2022, Gor Mahia Secretary-General Sam Ochalla raised concerns that their fans were no longer turning up in their numbers to support the club.

During that period, Ochalla urged the fans to stop attacking the clubs' management and focus on finding ways to support the club.
