
Kenya 7s team Shujaa kicked off their Solidarity Camp campaign held in Stellenbosch, South Africa on a high note after sinking Zimbabwe 24-0 in the opener of the tournament.
Jacob Ojee’s brace in the first half ensured Shujaa sealed a comfortable 24-0 win over Zimbabwe in their Solidarity Camp opening match.
Alvin Otieno later powered through the Zimbabwean defence to score in the second half for a 19-0 lead with flyhalf Tony Omondi missing the extras.
In their game two of the tournament Kenya faced South Africa where they succumbed to a 27-14 loss in what was a tough encounter for the Innocent Simiyu's side.
Shujaa had themselves redeemed in their final match of day 1 after thrashing hosts South Africa 19 -12 in their second meeting of the tournament in what was considered as a tight fixture of the day.
Kenya will be looking forward to extending their winning streak in the second matchday of the Solidarity Camp as they take on South Africa again before clashing with their East African neighbours Uganda later today.
The camp was organised by World Rugby and Rugby Afrique to aid the teams fully prepare ahead of the summer olympic games in Tokyo later in July this year.
