Gor Mahia has suspended several of its senior players after they boycotted training on Tuesday, August 2, and Wednesday, August 3.
The players are reported to have downed their tools in protest after they were paid only half of their July salaries.
Speaking to TeamKenya.co.ke Gor Mahia Secretary General, Sam Ocholla, confirmed that the players received suspension letters from the club.

The suspended players include George Odhiambo, Austin Odhiambo, John Ochieng, Boniface Omondi, Ernest Wendo, Benson Omala, Sydney Ochieng, Dennis Ng’ang’a and Alpha Onyango.
Reports indicate that the nine have been asked to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.
This came a couple of days after K'Ogalo unveiled Johnathan McKinstry as their new head coach.
In July 2022, Gor Mahia had been reported by Malian goalkeeper, Adama Keita, to the world football governing body FIFA over nonpayment of his dues.
During that incident, the K’Ogalo Secretary General clarified that the club was experiencing a financial crisis occasioned by the pandemic.
He had pointed out that the goalkeeper and other players had received half of their dues and the club was in the process of clearing.
The 19 times KPL Champions have in the past faced trouble from players who have reported them to FIFA over unpaid dues.
In the 2021/2022 season, Gor finished third behind Kakamega Homeboyz and Tusker, who finished second and first respectively.
K’Ogalo is currently having their pre-season training having played one match against Mombasa Combined winning 1-0 courtesy of Benson Omala.
