After staying in the political cold for the last five years, Christopher Cheboiboch made a political comeback by winning the Emsoo Ward seat in Elgeyo-Marakwet.
The retired athlete in an interview with NTV, Cheboiboch emphasized promoting bills geared toward promoting the improvement of athletics by setting up a sports academy.
He also hopes to become the chairman of the sports committee in the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly in order to streamline the issues related to sports.

Cheboiboch came into the limelight in 2002 after finishing second in the Boston and New York City Marathon.
The 45-year-old retired athlete has also graced other major marathons including the 2007 Las Vegas Marathon where he finished first.
In 2001 he ranked 15 in the half marathon race clocking 59:74 defeating the legendary Paul Tergat.
Cheboiboch while speaking to NTV pointed out two of the races that put him on the world map.
“There are two marathon races that made me famous, the Boston and New York Marathon,” Cheboiboch noted.
After retiring from active athletics, Cheboiboch ventured into a number of businesses in the education sector and currently owns a number of academies including the Salaba Academy.
“I funded the construction of this academy from my savings,” he stated.
While in retirement the 45-year-old ventured into politics and in 2013 was elected as the MCA of Emsoo Ward on a Kenya African National Union (KANU) ticket.
He, however, was unable to defend his seat in the 2017 General Elections but made a comeback in the 2022 polls under a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
