In what has been a disjointed season, leaders Tusker believe that they can still maintain the form they were in when the FKF Premier League resumes this weekend.
On March 20, the Brewers had to come back twice from behind to hold Nairobi City Stars to a 2-2 draw and go six points clear of second placed KCB who were held by Zoo Kericho 1-1 at the Kasarani Annex.
On Saturday May 15, Tusker hosts KCB in a top of the table clash with each side aiming for top honours at the end of the season.
Tusker coach Robert Matano believes that his side can lay their hands on the title if they show consistency in the remaining fixtures.
“Everyone wants to win (we want to win too). Consistency will enable us to win the league,” he said.
“Our aim is to win the league,” he added.
Captain Hashim Ssempal has echoed Matano’s sentiments but insists it will boil down to discipline and dedication. Lack of match fitness and the unexpected break halted the Brewers charge but the team can’t just stop dreaming from winning their number 12 title.
“We want to make the fans happy, we want to make our sponsors happy and that is why we will put our best foot forward when the league resumes,” the Ugandan said.
“Our fitness levels are quite low but we will show our determination and focus,” he said.
Tusker, Western Stima, Nairobi City Stars, Kariobangi Sharks, AFC Leopards, Bandari, and Nzoia Sugar had their players and officials conduct Covid 19 tests ahead of the league resumption on May 14, 2021.
Bidco United kicked off the exercise on Tuesday, at the Delmonte grounds with Mathare United, Gor Mahia, Posta Rangers, KCB, and Kakamega Homeboys following suit at the Goan Institute, Ligi Ndogo grounds, Jamhuri Grounds, KCB training grounds, and Bukhungu Stadium respectively.
Closing off the mass Covid-19 testing on Thursday will be Vihiga United, Ulinzi Stars, Wazito, and Sofapaka at the Senende High School, Nakuru Barracks, Marist University college, and Eastleigh high school respectively.
