Sammy Kipketer, a retired athlete who represented Kenya at the 2001 Commonwealth Games has been ordered by a court to stop collecting rent from his apartment in Eldoret due to a Ksh 80 million loan.
In a ruling that was made by Justice Eric Ogola, Sammy alongside his wife Beatrice Kipketer were ordered to provide a list of all the tenants who have rented rooms in the building.

According to Nation, she argued that her husband took the loan using the two storey building located at the centre of the fast growing town as a guarantee without involving her even though it was a family property.
Beatrice insisted that she contributed her money and time to construct the building particularly since his husband was often away.
Justice Ogola gave the couple 14 days to comply with the order, failure to which further legal actions will be taken against them.
In 2021, Justice Hellen Omondi, who is currently a judge at the Court of Appeal dismissed a request from Beatrice to stop the auctioning of the house, stating that there was no proof that the latter was legally married to Sammy.
However, after Beatrice filed an appeal, she stopped the auction on a temporary basis.
The bank was not happy with Omondi's order, lamenting that the move was taken to delay the resolution of the case.
"It is our submission that the instant application can only be construed as a deliberate action to further delay the progression of the case to a full hearing and ultimate hearing and determination of the matter," read a statement from the affected bank.
The controversial case is expected to be mentioned again on November 15 to confirm whether the orders given by the court were compiled with.
Sammy competed in the 3,000m, 1,500m, 5,00m and 10,000m races. He also took part in road races including the Half Marathon.
