AFC Leopards quest for a first Premier League title in 23 years gathered momentum on Saturday when they beat Nzoia 1-0 in an FKF Premier League match played at the Ruaraka stadium.

Caleb Olilo, earning a rare start in the team scored the only goal of the match in the first half to help Ingwe leapfrog KCB and Kariobangi Sharks and move to second on the log.

With four key players missing (Clyde Senaji, Marvin Nabwire, Collins Shichenje and Jaffery Owiti), Ingwe had to tinker the lineup in what was potentially going to be a difficult afternoon at the unfamiliar Ruaraka.

Olilo, a former Jericho All Stars winger, struck Leopards into the lead after 38 minutes with a well struck volley from an Austin Odhiambo cross.

Leopards also had two close chances but Odhiambo failed to put them away.

In the second half, Nzoia came back stronger while Leopards seemed to have faded away. The visitors were direct in their play and forced Ingwe to play on the back foot.
