After falling short in their previous four finals, Leicester have become the first ‘new’ FA Cup winners since Wigan in 2013 with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday, May 15.

The Blues dominated in the first half but really struggled to create major chances, even after Leicester lost their centre half Jonny Evans to injury in the 34th minute.

A magnificent strike from Youri Tielemans was all that separated Leicester City and Chelsea as The Foxes completed their long wait for an FA Cup with a 1-0 win at Wembley in front of the biggest crowd in England since March 2020.

It might not be compared to the Claudio Ranieri fairytale of 2015/16 but it’s been a sensational season for Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes who are well on course for a top four finish in the Premier League and, with a long-awaited FA Cup now in their trophy cabinet.

Only two points separate third-placed Leicester and fourth-placed Chelsea in the league and perhaps unsurprisingly, little separated the pair in a compelling tug of war at Wembley.

Chelsea picked up their broken pieces after cancelling Tielemans goal with Chilwell's goal bound header being deflected and crossed over the line. However, the celebrations swiftly turned into panic and disappointment when VAR ruled that the former Leicester defender was offside by the narrowest of margins.

Leicester and Chelsea’s battles aren’t over yet, as Chelsea will have the perfect chance to seek vengeance when these two meet again at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League fixture for the top-four crunch battle.

After losing to Leicester,Chelsea have now shifted their focus into their next finals against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions league finals on May 29 in Portugal.
