One of the longest-established religious services of any kind at any major sporting event in the world - the International Minyan for Marathoners - will be taking place.
The event has been happening for nearly four decades, with Jewish runners holding a pre-race morning service.
Runners who feel anxious before the start of a marathon will be offered emotional support by therapy dogs.
The service, which was paused in 2021, returns this year with therapy dogs in each of the starting villages.
Another new feature introduced at the marathon event will see nursing mothers participating in the TCS New York City Marathon have safe and secure transporting breast pumping equipment from the start to the finish of the marathon.
Athletes will also have the privilege of crossing the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, the longest single-span suspension bridge in North America.
The bridge's midpoint is 274 feet above sea level, making it the highest elevation on the marathon course.
On November 4, before the race day, Kenya's Mary Keitany, a four-time TCS New York City Marathon champion, will be recognized at the NYRR Night of Champions as a Hall of Famer.
She will join other Kenyans like Paul Tergat, Tegla Lorupe and Marget Okayo in the hall of fame list.
