
Hellen Obiri will debut at the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 6.
The 5,000m world champion will take part in her first marathon as she kicks off her transition to the roads.
The 33-year-old Kenyan relocated to train with the On Running group under coach Dathan Ritzenhein and hopes that her varied experience will work to her advantage.

“I know New York is a tough course, but I hope my experience on track, road and cross country will help me navigate the ups and downs,” Obiri stated.
She also seeks to emulate Ethiopia’s Gebreslase, who won on her debut at the 2021 Berlin Marathon.
Israels Lonah Chemtai is the quickest in the field with a Personal Best (PB) of 2:17:45, a time she set when she won the 2020 Tokyo Marathon.
Ethiopia's Gotytom Gebreslase lines up as the second quickest in the field in New York with a PB of 2:18:11.
Other Kenyans who will be in the field is 2011 and 2013 world champion Edna Kiplagat and Viola Cheptoo.
Fellow compatriot Peres Jepchirchir who was to take part in the race withdrew due to injury.
