Winless Shujaa Face All Blacks in Challenge Quarters

Shujaa finished the Hong Kong Sevens pool stage winless after a 19-14 loss to Canada on Saturday morning, November 5. 

The Kenya Sevens men's team, finished bottom in Pool D, with Ireland topping, followed by Argentina and Canada, respectively. 

Both Kenya and Canada were relegated to the Challenge Trophy, with Shujaa facing All Blacks on Sunday morning, November 6, at 4:45 am East African Time (EAT).

Shujaa’s lost 28-12 against Ireland on November 4, in their first match of the 2022/2023 season. 

Kenya concluded the last season ranked 12 with 49 points, while All Blacks finished eighth with 80 points. 

The last time Kenya Sevens met with New Zealand was at the Commonwealth Games fifth-place playoffs, with Shujaa suffering a 31-0 loss. 

All Blacks began the tournament with a 24-0 to Samoa before winning against Hong Kong however, in their last match, lost to Australia by 24-17.  

Other fixtures in the ninth-place quarters are Spain vs Uraguay, Canada vs Hong Kong and Great Britain vs Japan. 

In the main cup quarters, Fiji will face South Africa, Ireland will play Australia, and France will battle it out with the USA. 

After the Hong Kong series, the next stop will be in Dubai from December 2 to 3.
