“Between November 19/20 and June 24/25, there are 32 weekends. If we remove Christmas weekend and FIFA weekend in March, we are left with 30.
“In total, the FKFPL needs 34 match days, and FKF Cup requires five for top-flight clubs. Meaning we need a total of 39 matchdays.
“There is no need for the fixtures to be overly congested. One mid-week fixture every three weeks is enough to play 39 matches in 30 weeks,” Johnathan McKinstry stated on his social media pages.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba restored the FKF Secretariate on November 4, with football stakeholders eagerly waiting for the resumption of football activities in the country.
Ababu also met with the club's official, who advised him to heed the call from FIFA to re-open the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Secretariat and allow the officials back in the office.
During the restoration of the federation secretariat, FKF CEO Barry Otieno noted that the federation would be soon communicating the next steps, including the status of the just concluded 2021/2022 league season and the scheduled date of the kick of the 2022/2023 season.
The Sports Cabinet Secretary, in past briefings, revealed that since assuming office, he had various calls with FIFA to discuss the current state of football in the country.
