KCB boosted their league title hopes with a 2-1 victory over Mathare United at the Ruaraka Grounds on Wednesday 19 May.

The Slum Boys got an early lead in the opening minutes courtesy of Daniel Otieno, but Zedekiah Otieno’s men equalized on the stroke of halftime through Vincent Wasambo’s deflected shot.

After coming from the locker room for their final half KCB made attacking changes, Victor Omune and Derrick Otanga coming on while Martin Nderitu and Wasambo were rested.

Mathare were punished at the 75th minute ,after a quickly started freekick sending super substitute Derrick Otanga through before the forward simply lobbed the ball over the already advanced goalkeeper Job Ochieng to nail the visitors at the rock bottom of the league.

Mathare tried running riot into the Banker's box during the final minutes before the whistle went but they failed to equalize and get a point off that clash.

The win was a very much needed one for KCB who have now moved to second position in the standings with 33 points, just one behind leaders Tusker FC.

For Mathare, they failed to turn over their misfortunes under their new boss as their chances for being relegated from the top flight league widened up more after recording their 10th loss of the season and having picking only one point in their last six fixtures
