Manchester United paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in one of the shortest farewell messages ever.

Man U used their matchday programme to release a blunt 81-word farewell message ahead of their Carabao Cup victory against Burnley.

United, who occupy the fifth position in the 2022/2023 Premier League table buried hatchet after fallout from Ronaldo's explosive interview with British Journalist Piers Morgan.

In the brief statement, the club only mentioned some of his notable contributions.

“Cristiano Ronaldo left the club by mutual agreement last month. The Portuguese superstar scored 145 goals across two spells and 436 appearances and helped us win three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup,” part of the message read.

In addition, it wished the Real Madrid legend and his loved ones the best of luck.

"Ronaldo was also crowned Ballon d'Or winner in 2008. In a statement on November 22, the club put on record its gratitude for Cristiano's immense contribution and wished him and his family well for the future.” the statement ended.

The 37-year-old Portuguese forward left Old Trafford last month on a mutual agreement with the red devils.

During the interview that went viral, Ronaldo accused the Premier League side of betraying him.

He also touched on his relationship with United’s manager Erik Ten Hag, and some of the players, past and present ones.

Ronaldo is seeking to sign for a new club this coming January transfer window after his return to Old Trafford failed to work.

Chelsea, Sporting CP, and New Castle are some of the clubs that Ronaldo has been linked with in the past few weeks.
