The race for the FKF Premier League title took an unexpected turn after KCB beat Bandari 3-0 at Utalii Grounds on Sunday, May 23, to dislodge Tusker from the top of the league standings.

The Bankers' emphatic win seemed unlikely at first, with the visitors looking at a more organised side in the initial minutes of the game.

David Simiyu and defender Harun Thomas scored the goals for the Bankers in the opening half with Derrick Otanga sealing the win with five minutes left as they went to 36 points, one ahead of the Tusker FC who were held to a 1-1 draw by Wazito FC on Friday, May 21.

After a long run of dominance, KCB went ahead on the quarter hour mark when Simiyu tapped home from close range off Reagan Otieno’s cross with defender Brian Otieno assuming the goalkeeper had the ball covered.

The dockers had a shaky defence line and could not hold possession. They were almost caught out in the 22nd minute when keeper Justin Ndikumana’s pass through the middle was intercepted by Simiyu who almost netted it in.

In the second half, Bandari came back with urge and push to get back into the game since they were 2-0 down.

But they were almost caught out in the 58th minute when Curtis Wekesa dribbled his way into the box from the right, cut back a cross but Simiyu couldn’t connect it from the edge of the six yard box.

KCB finally sealed the top spot at the summit after Oduor ,the former Sofapaka man made a run on the right, sliced back a cross for fellow substitute Otanga to finish it off at 3-0.
