Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side AFC Leopards has dismissed claims of demanding to have their match against Gor Mahia postponed.

According to the letter from the club's secretariat, there was an intention by unscrupulous individuals to have the match postponed to February 4, 2023.

The Mashemeji derby is set to be played on Sunday, January 29, at Nyayo Stadium.

“We strongly advise all of our supporters and football fans in general to disregard the letter that has been dishonestly circulated on social media with the intent of misrepresenting facts, misleading the public, causing confusion about the date of the upcoming match against Gor Mahia,” part of the statement read.

It was also highlighted that the gates would open at 9 am with the fans urged to come out in numbers.

Gor Mahia had also sent a letter to Azimio party leader Raila Odinga requesting him to postpone his Kamkunji Rally scheduled for Sunday.

Raila, who is K’Ogalo’s patron, was also invited to grace the match.

“We also appeal to you to consider either rescheduling the demo or having it in good time to enable the supporters of both clubs to make their way to the stadium in time for the derby,” part of the statement from Gor Mahia read.

K'Ogalo will be hoping to grab a win as the club is one point away from Tusker FC who are the league leaders.

As for Ingwe, they will be seeking to extend their three-match unbeaten run.
