
Jared Harrington, an American basketball star, has announced a partnership with the Kakamega County-based Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) to construct a multipurpose stadium.
Harrington, who was born in Maryland, broke the news on his social media platforms.
“Excited to announce the partnership with MMTC Kenya to build a multi-purpose stadium that will be able to host basketball, football, rugby, and soccer.

“Thrilled to continue to expand sports & entertainment throughout Africa,” his statement read.
MMTC also confirmed the collaboration while announcing the date that the groundbreaking ceremony is expected to take place.
“We thank Jared Harrington, an American star of NBA Africa (BAL), for paying a courtesy visit to Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC).
“Harrington will partner with MMTC on the multiplex sports arena which is expected to break ground in June 2023 and be completed in November 2024.
“The arena will boost MMTC's medical tourism program including sports medicine,” part of the statement from them read.
Butere Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Tindi Mwale applauded Harrington for choosing to invest in MMTC.
MMTC is a multi-billion sustainable city with over 30,000 residents.
The construction of the smart city began in 2014 and once completed, it would have a shopping mall, cafe, hospital, and golf course among other facilities.
