
Kenyan driver Hamza Anwar finished seventh at the Junior World Rally Championship Rally Sweden Stage 1 on Thursday, February 9.
In his debut, the 24-year-old, navigated by Adnan Din, drove a Ford Fiesta R3.
The FIA Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC), is an international rallying competition restricted to drivers under the age of 29.
JWRC was introduced in 2001, with Kenyan Driver McRae Kimathi representing Africa in the 2022 edition, finishing fifth overall.

This was the first time in his career that the driver competed in the snow, having made his WRC debut at Safari Rally Kenya in 2021 using a Fiesta Rally3 to second in class.
Hamza Anwar is also the reigning FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) Junior Champion. He finished third in the overall ranking in Africa.
A month before the race, Hamza revealed he would be catering for his recce car expenses.
He also highlighted that driving on snow and ice was a dream come true.
“I really have to finish but simultaneously take the fight to my opponents because the more stages won in class, the more points gained,” Hamza stated.
The Rally kicked off on February 9 and will close on February 12.
