“Tiger needs a Kikuyu name right away!" a user named Gathoni commented.

“Says a lot about Tiger Woods. Nairobi is home; come visit,” another user commented.

“My G.O.A.T knowns his Kikuyu,” read a comment by Chris Kimani.

It was shocking that despite the pro golfers playing on the grass, very few knew how to pronounce it.

Scientifically knowns as Cenchrus clandestinus, this popular grass originates from tropical and subtropical African countries and was used for pasture purposes.

The name for this grass variety was named after the ‘Kikuyu’ people that live in Kenya.

According to researchers, this grass variety was named after the Kenyan tribe because they had good agricultural knowledge.
