“I would like to laud NTV for taking the lead in terms of sports development and we shall ensure we work together to take sports to the next level because we are the city of champions,” he commented.

This year’s event is special because it has assembled the best athletes ever witnessed in the history of marathon running.

A number of world record holders, Olympic champions and world beaters are expected to square it out in the streets of London.

Reigning world record holder Brigid Kosgei, 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir and 2022 World Athletics silver medalist Judith Korir are some of the stars set to light up the women’s event.

Genzebe Dibaba, Sifan Hassan, Yalemzerf Yehualaw, Almaz Ayana and Tigist Assefa would also be in contention.

In the men’s category defending champion Amos Kipruto from Kenya, Geoffrey Kamworor, Kenenisa Bekele and fast-rising ace Kevin Kiptum have been confirmed for the event.

Apart from Eliud Kipchoge, Bekele and Kiptum are the only other two athletes who have completed a race in under 2:02.00 in the history of marathon running.
