
After A line infringement that saw her and the mixed relay team get disqualified early in the day, Sylvia Chelangat was aiming at improving on her mistake in the 400M 3rd Heat.
Chelangat managed to redeem herself after finishing and qualifying in second position with a time of 53.49 seconds behind Nigerian Imabong Uko; 52:33 seconds. Chelangat's time was also her 'Personal Best' as she made it through to the finals.
On the Men's side, Elkanah Chemelil and Kennedy Kimeu also showcased impressive performances that saw them qualify for the 400M finals. The two athletes set a time of 46:79 and 47:05 respectively with Kimeu's being a Season's Best.
The Afternoon session begins at exactly 4:00 P.M and more Kenyans will be looking to outshine the stiff competition at the championships. Bernard Kibet and Daniel Kinyanjui will be looking to bag in Kenya's first medals once they compete today at 5:45 P.M in the Men's 3000M Final.
