Vihiga Queens Part Ways With Coach Alex Alumira

Vihiga Queens

Vihiga Queens head coach, Alex Alumira asked the club's executive committee to release him from his contract on the 20th of August due to urgent personal reasons and family issues. Alumira's departure comes just a few days before the start of the Cecafa Champions League Qualifiers whereby Queens will be representing the country. Vihiga are in group B alongside Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars. The inaugural regional tournament is set for between August 28 and September 9 in Nairobi.

Alumira spent 8 years at the club winning the Kenya Women's Premier League title 3 times. "I made the decision three days ago but I am not going to talk about specifics. My next job, though, won't be in Kenya for sure. I wouldn't have wished to do so at a time like this but some things are unavoidable. What I am going through could not allow me to continue in my role. I need time to sort out some issues in my life." Said Alumira.

Alumira is being linked with Tanzania's Simba Queens but the youthful tactician refused to confirm or deny, only indicating that there are three offers from Eastern African countries and one from the North. "I have offers that I am evaluating together with family and relatives and a final decision will be made in 10-days. There's one offer from North Africa and three other concrete ones from our region so we are assessing all of them," he said.
