Tottenham striker Harry Kane has confirmed that he will be staying at theWhite Hart Lane for yet another season, quelling rumours that he will be joining Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Tottenham captain who came in as a substitute in their 1-0 win over Wolves on Sunday announced his commitment to Spurs on Wednesday August 25 on his official social media accounts.

“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success,” stated the striker.

“It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks,” stated Kane.

Earlier, Manchester City had expressed their interest in signing the star; however, Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy was adamant that his star man was not for sale at any price. He also believes that City have left it too late to negotiate a deal, and they’d struggle to find a replacement in time as the transfer window closes by August 31.

Pep Guardiola made no secret of the fact that he would like to absorb Kane into his team after losing club-record goalscorer Sergio Aguero on a free transfer at the end of last season.

However, he stated that the decision is entirely up to Tottenham.

“If they are open to negotiate, I think not just Man City, but many clubs in the world want to sign him. We are not an exception, but it depends on Tottenham,” stated Guardiola.

The English captain had failed to report to his first week of pre-season training with Spurs, instead, he remained on his holiday in Barbados. He, however, denied that it was a stand against the club, adding that he returned to the club as planned.

Kane’s decision to remain in Spurs will mean that City will have to win another Premier League without a proper striker.
