It's Derby Time as Morans Face South Sudan in Afro-Basket

Kenya Morans

The Kenya Morans will be seeking dominance over their neighbours South Sudan at the ongoing FIBA Afro-Basket Championship pre-quarter qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda tomorrow.

The Morans beat South Sudan 74-68 last year in the zonal qualifiers in what was a turning point for the basketball team and fraternity in the country.

South Sudan beat Uganda 88-86 in what was arguably the match of the tournament to book a pre-quarter final ticket.  Kenya finished third in pool C following their 72-66 win against Mali.

Morans coach Liz Mills says the team has to be at their best is they don't want an early exit from the tournament.

“If they cut down on the turn overs, the prospects looks good,” she said.

The eagerly awaited tie is coming after Kenya beat South Sudan 74-68 in the zonal qualifiers played before an overflowing Nyayo gymnasium last year
