FIFA Boss to Grace Final of The Women’s Champions League

FIFA's Secretary-General Fatma Samoura  who will grace CECAFA's women's final in Nairobi

Fatma Samoura, the Secretary General of FIFA, is set to grace the final of the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League Cecafa region Qualifiers at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday, September 9.

The finals will be a face-off between Kenya’s Vihiga Queens FC and Ethiopia's CBE.

The winner will get a slot to represent the CECAFA region in the inaugural CAF Women Champions League to be hosted in Egypt this year.

During Fatma’s tour, she’s set to meet the vice president of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Doris Petra, and FKF’s President Nick Mwendwa who is looking forward to hosting her.

“We welcome the FIFA Secretary-General to Kenya.We're looking forward to hosting her and engaging her about the development of the game in Kenya, "Mwendwa said.

Petra stated that Fatma would be accompanied by FIFA’s Chief Women’s Football Officer, Sarai Barema, and she will also hold talks with football leadership in the country.

Their aim for this tour is to highlight FIFA’s commitment to developing the female game throughout the continent.

“This is a big week for us in the Women’s game. Our clubs are taking part in regional and continental competitions for the first time, and we are pleased to share this moment with the Secretary General,” Doris Petra said.

This will be Samoura’s first visit to Kenya since her appointment as FIFA's Secretary General in 2016.

Before Thursday's final, Tanzania’s Simba Queens will take on Uganda’s Lady Doves FC in the play-off to decide the third and fourth place.
