
It's Matchday and Vihiga Queens are up against Ethiopia's CBE FC in CECAFA Samia Women Cup Final at exactly 4p.m. The match will be held at Kasarani Stadium and Queens will be looking forward to redeem themselves against the Ethiopian side. Vihiga lost 4:2 against CBE during the opener in the tournament and have since had an outstanding performance heading towards the final that determines who will represent the region in the CECAFA Women's Champions League.
"The team is set for the final and the girls are highly motivated, especially coming up against a team that beat us in the opener. We have rectified the mess in the first match and the final will be a different ball game altogether,"Vihiga Head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu said. His counterpart Heye Gizawu said their previous win against Vihiga counts for nothing. "Anything is possible in the final but we will take a tactical approach," he noted.
CBE have been faultless in their run to the final and hold the second best defensive record after conceding only twice. Vihiga will heavily rely on the services of Maureen Achieng who has seven goals to her name. Jentrix Shikangwa and Tereza Engesha with five and three respectively will also be expected to rise to the occasion.
A big threat for the Queens will be CBE's skipper and tournament's top scorer Loza Geinore. With 13 goals to her name, Loza together with Medina Awol will be looking to pounce on any chances that come their way. Early on in the day at exactly 1p.m, Lady Doves if Uganda will face off against Tanzanian side Simba Queens in the tournament's play off to determine who settles for third place.
