AFC Leopards Face Auctioneers

Soft Power Aucontineers

AFC Leopards have yet another problem in their backyard as Auctioneers have allegedly decided to camp at their offices over outstanding debts. One of the Soft Power Aucontineers revealed that AFC Leopards buses stand at risk of being auctioned to settle their Ksh 2 Million debt.

“If you contact them they can give you more details, we will auction what will cover their debts it could be all their buses if it will cover the amount. The amount is about Ksh 2Million but I may not have the exact figure, I will have to counter check the documents to give the full amount,” said one of the Soft Power Aucontineers representatives. However on contacting both AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda and CEO Victor Bwibo, both disputed the news Bwibo saying that nothing of the sort has happened and indeed they are solving business issues with Auctioneers.

This will not be the first time that AFC Leopards is set to be auctioned by Soft Power as in 2020 the auctioneers demanded Ksh 2.6M from the club to settle Ivan Minnaert’s debt following a High Court ruling on a case touching on his unlawful dismissal back in 2016.

AFC Leopards sacked the Belgian in September 2016 after a string of poor results but the coach chose to dispute the termination of his contract through the corridors of justice. Leopards were to pay the money in six instalments of Ksh 500,000 then the balance was to be cleared in instalments of Ksh 450,000 and Ksh 300,000. Thereafter Ksh 450,000 was to be offset in four phases.

AFC Leopards were fined Ksh6M back in August for failing to honour the Mashemeji Derby as both them and Gor Mahia demanded their proceeds from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup. The club is also currently serving a FIFA Transfer Ban for failing to settle Rwandan midfielder Vincent Habamahoro's dues, totalling Ksh 1.8 million.
