Shami Kibwana's penalty in the first half saw Tusker FC record a 2-1 win over Police FC in a rescheduled Kenyan Premier League fixture staged in Kasarani on Wednesday afternoon.

Police who have been one of the most active teams in the just concluded window threatened to tear the form nook when they took the lead inside the first minute through Samuel Ndungu but the lead only lasted for four minutes as Ibrahim Joshua restored parity for the visitors.

While Police, with keeper Brian Bwire forced to a smart save as the proceedings heated up, it was Shami Kibwana who gave Robert Matano the lead in the 40th minute from the penalty spot after Boniface Muchiri had been brought down in the opposition box.

The second half proved to be a fruitless affair with the loss being the Police' fourth of the season; the team having only won a game in their return to the top flight. The sorry streak leaves them placed 14th on the log ahead of their next game against Gor Mahia. Police opened their campaign in the top-flight with a 1-0 defeat against Kakamega Homeboyz, lost 2-0 against Nairobi City Stars, picked up their first win 3-1 against Nzoia Sugar before losing 2-1 against KCB.

Meanwhile, Tusker started their title defence with a 1-0 defeat against AFC Leopards, and then suffered another 2-1 defeat against promoted side FC Talanta before they floored Wazito FC 2-0 for their first win. The Brewers now have a date with Kariobangi Sharks in their next game as they seek to keep pressure with the leading pack.
