Abdalla Juma has been appointed as Vihiga Bullets head coach, taking over Evans Mafuta who took over as boss in September succeeding Edward Manoah who had guided the team to promotion in the top tier from the National Super League (NSL).

Juma suffered relegation with Stima and he is now tasked with turning the fortunes of Bullets around.

The newbies have had a rude welcome in the top flight league, as they are still winless in six matches, losing in all the last five to remain rock-bottom on the log with one point only. The Vihiga County-based side were promoted to the FKF-PL at the end of the 2020/21 NSL after finishing second with 64 points, eight points behind champions Talanta FC.

Club Chief Executive Officer Collins Juma had earlier emphasized on the need for his side to continue putting in hard work, maintain discipline and team spirit in a bid to sustain their stay at the top.

The team which is being sponsored by former Vihiga governor Moses Akaranga has grown in leaps and bounds over a short period and is further calling upon support from like minded partners and corporates.

Former coach Mafuta seemed a bit weary on his first matches at the club, even facing uncalled for attacks by goons posing to be fans. Mafuta was fearful over his safety after a harrowing incident on Mashujaa day, when he was attacked in the wake of a crushing defeat. A man, whom Mafuta says was masquerading as the club chairman, descended on the tactician after a 3-0 home loss to Kariobangi Sharks at Bukhungu stadium.

Mafuta was in charge of Bullets for only 2 months managing 1 point out of possible 18. Being in charge of Bullets for a short period, Mafuta conceded 14 goals in 6 games.

Apparently, Abdallah Juma was to join Murang'a Seal FC but the deal to join the NSL moneybags didn't materialize in the final stages.
