AFC Leopards financial woes were reduced massively following a lump sum donation by club patron Musalia Mudavadi.

The ANC party leader contributed a total of Ksh 1,060,000 which was announced by the club on November 10.

“We would  like to extend  our gratitude to Hon Musalia Mudavadi for his financial contribution  to the club .”

“As a club we say thank you for your support. Thank you so much for standing with the club.”

“Thank you for your kind donation of Ksh. 1,060,000 to the club .”

“The contribution was a top up to our October  salary  and also facilitated the Wundanyi trip to honour  our  FKF-PL match  against Sofapaka FC,” the club's statement read.

In September the club held a fundraiser at the United Kenya Club in Nairobi where they managed to raise a total of ksh8,068,000.

Out of the money realized, ksh6 million was to be used to clear former players' arrears who had reported the club to world football governing body FIFA for breach of contract.

Earlier on in the year Football Kenya Federation(FKF) had moved to deduct grants for AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia in order to partially settle the combined Ksh10 million fines imposed on the Premier League giants.

Despite being one of Kenya’s longest running and fanatically supported clubs, AFC Leopards SC earlier in September declared a ksh28.8 million loss last year.

Leopards income has suffered greatly due to the disruption in shirt sponsorships. This was when the Mumias Sugar deal was suspended in March 2015.
