Kenya Table Tennis Association (KTTA) president Andrew Mudibo has been re-elected to the Board of Directors (BOD) of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

He was elected during the sports body's hybrid Annual General Meeting in Houston, America on Wednesday.

Mudibo becomes the only current Sports Kenyan Administrator, holding high positions in both the Continental and World body at the same time. In September Mudibo was elected the Deputy President of Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), in charge of development.

During the international elections Mrs Jane Pinto, the former President of KTTA, was appointed as the first female life honorary member of the ITTF. She becomes the first woman to have been awarded this position making history in the process. At the ITTF AGM, Sweden's Petra Sorling was elected unopposed as the new President of ITTF thereby creating history as the first female leader to head the international body.

Andrew Mudibo has called for inclusivity and good governance in sports if Kenya is to witness more success in the future. Mudibo is also eyeing the Secretary General's position in the National Olympic Committee of Kenya elections scheduled for December 9th 2021.

The Deputy President of the Africa Table Tennis Federation observed that stakeholders, government institutions and people from the grassroots have a role to play to ensure sanity prevails while calling for reforms in the NOCK constitution.

"The Olympic Committee must have a clear structure that gives solutions to existing problems. All stakeholders must be involved and specialists accommodated in committees," Mudibo said. "In the security docket for example, Kenya Defence Forces and the police are crucial. Brand Kenya and Kenya Tourism Board are critical in the relations department and this trickles down to the communities. By doing so, you create a harmonious working environment between the officials and federations. It was unfair to exclude other federations in the past election."

Mudibo boasts of over 30 years of working experience both locally and internationally. He challenged federations to inculcate a winning culture.

"Athletics has set the standards and other sports bodies need to instill a winning mentality if Kenya is to soar higher internationally. Good governance is not reliant on the executive. It involves everyone. It's not a one-off sentence. It's about transparency and accountability," he added.

Mudibo earlier pointed out that the election of six Kenyan officials to the continental sub-committees will lead to the growth of table tennis in Kenya. Kennedy Loti (development committee), Samson Ateka (media), Joseph Okello (marketing), Anthony Abuya (medical), Sam Maina (protocol) and Madu Gudca (women) have roles to play.
