The Gor Mahia FC duo of midfielder John Ochieng and striker Jules Ulimwengu are finally on their way back to Nairobi after being detained in Congo Brazzaville since last Sunday due to an apparent positive COVID-19 test.

The two missed Gor Mahia’s match with AS Otoho due to their apparent positive test and were supposed to have been detained in quarantine for eight days as specified by Congolese protocol.

However, the club has since secured their release after they returned negative tests, surprisingly just a few days after their initial tests.

The two are now set to be available for the return leg match which will be played on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Gor Mahia lost the first leg 1-0 and will be looking to put up a win of more than two goals to make their third appearance in the group phase of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison is pleased with the availability of the two players who will punch in numbers to his squad. Gor Mahia had to play the first leg with 14 players after the two were singled out.

K’Ogalo are lining up a squad of 16 players only for their continental campaign as they were not allowed to field most of their new players previously due to a transfer ban inflicted on them by world football governing body FIFA over unpaid dues owed to their former players.
