Preparations for the 2021 Homologated National Beach Volleyball Tour are currently at an advanced stage with Wote, Makueni County the chosen destination.
Through a statement, the County government of Makueni wishes to welcome Athletes from all corners of the Country for the FIVB Beach Volleyball Homologated National Tour.
"We are looking forward to having a wonderful weekend and seeing our own players here in Makueni squaring up with other players across the other regions including Olympians in this event. Come all and enjoy the great serenity of Makueni county" said Mr Ambrose Kisoi, the County Director of Sports.
Teamkenya.co.ke also reached out to Kenya Volleyball Federation Communications head Mr. John Shikuku Malenya for a brief, "The tour is set for 11th and 12th of December. There's a river called Kaiti. Organisers will ferry sand from River Kaiti's banks to the Arena." Mr Malenya said with regards to questions on Makueni, Wote having an actual beach.
"Compared to last year where the event was held in Homa Bay County, a total of 24 teams were able to be part of the spectacle however as we prepare for this current one in Wote, we might see more teams registering due to the fact that it is easily accessible and the local teams have shown interest in joining the event."
"This tournament will highly help players in ranking owing to the fact that the Commonwealth games are around the corner and beach volleyball has been included in the games," said Malenya.
"The ranking process will help us select players with the highest points obtained to finally represent the country in the games coming next year. The more you win, the more points you get, hence the name 'homologated' Tour." Malenya concluded.
Teams are required to register their players with Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Secretariat or Beach Volleyball Commission through Coach Sammy Mulinge before Friday December 10th.
We encourage all teams to register as early as possible as this will enable the B-VIS system to automatically generate the pools and order of matches for the two days.
