One draw, six losses are surely not statistics that they wanted this season; Nzoia Sugar are clearly struggling and need to fix their house before it crumbles back to the National Super League.
Their downward spiral under the stewardship of former player and now coach Ibrahim Shikanda was not foreseen, they expected better performances in the new season.
Club chairman Evans Kadenge who literally travels with the team in every match says that the team’s poor form has been contributed to by several factors including financial strains.
“Right now, we have so many challenges because of finances, that’s why the team is not performing well. The big challenge is just the finances in the league,” Kadenge told TeamKenya on Tuesday.
“The caretaker committee has been in office for the past one month but they have not supported us with anything from the Government, so we cannot judge them right now,” he said.
The Millers lost several players at the close of last season and replacing them has been an uphill task with the results in the last few matches evidently showing lack of quality and depth in the team.
“My team is still struggling because we lost so many players but we are now catching up,” Kadenge added.
Nzoia FC will be visiting fourth placed Nairobi City Stars on Wednesday, December 8, at Ruaraka grounds hoping to earn their first win of the season.
