AFC Leopards are having one of their worst starts to a Premier League season since 2009 and things seem to be heading to the worst as each day passes.
The loss of 18 first team players at the close of last season and the beginning of the season was the worst they could have imagined at the back of a two-window FIFA transfer ban.
On Thursday Tanzanian side Namungo FC admitted that they were in talks with Patrick Aussems in a bid to have him as their next coach. The Belgian joined Ingwe amid the CoronaVirus pandemic in February 2020 and has stuck with the team despite all the problems on and off the pitch.
"Namungo have held talks with Aussems and we are awaiting for both parties to agree on the terms,” our source said.
"Aussems still has a contract with the Leopards to get him out of there.”
"If Namungo does that and agrees with Aussems it will be over and he will come to the country as he himself is ready to return to Tanzania to teach(coach) football.”
The Tanzanian side who hired Moroccan coach Hemed Suleiman have struggled in the league this season and are currently in eighth position with only two wins this campaign.
Aussems on the other hand has lost five on the trot and recently dispelled his displeasure at how affairs are being run at AFC Leopards under the stewardship of Dan Shikanda.
"The technical bench, the staff and the players are facing many challenges (no salaries,no allowances, daily issues...) which prevent the group from working properly. Carelessness of some people?Lack of professionalism? Hopefully this situation will be fixed as quickly as possible." Said Aussems wrote on his Twitter handle.
The Belgian has been forced to sign young players and promote many from the Youth team after many of the Ingwe stars including striker Elvis Rupia, goalkeepers Benjamin Ochan, John Oyemba, Ezekiel Owade, Austin Odhiambo, Yusuf Maingi Clyde Senaji and Congolese midfielder Fabrice Mugheni quit the club in a span of two months..
Aussems guided Leopards to the FKF Cup where they lost 4-1 on post match penalties to rivals Gor Mahia in July.
