
Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o has been elected president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
The former Barcelona and Chelsea star was elected during the elective general assembly that took place at the Monte Febe Hotel in Yaounde on Saturday December 11. 2021.
Before the elections other candidates pulled out of the race leaving incumbent Mbombo Njoya to battle it out with Eto'o.
The candidates Maboang Kessack, Justin Tagouh and Crepin Nyamsi all through weight behind the Olympic gold medalist, In contrast, former Indomitable Lions' players Jules Onana and Zacharie Wanja supported Njoya.
Only one delegate out of the 76 eligible to vote failed to turn up for the elections.
40-year-old Eto'o represented 14 clubs across his illustrious playing career and is the all-time Indomitable Lions top scorer.
Eto'o's first task will be to ensure that next month's Africa Cup of Nations tournament is a success. Cameroon is hosting the biennial tournament for the first time in 50 years.
