Kenya's Rayton "Boom Boom" Okwiri returns to the ring on December 26 to battle Ghana's Joshua Allotey for the WBO Africa super welterweight title fight in Accra.

Okwiri who has a record of (8-0-1, 6 KOs) is unshaken by Allotey's record of (16-10, 14 KOs).

"I have  fought tougher opponents in APB pro boxing, I'm ready for him but I'll not take it easy.Ghanaians are tough boxers," Okwiri noted.

The unbeaten Kenyan southpaw has been shaping up at Advanced Gym (opposite Mater Hospital in South B) and invites the media for interviews from 2pm when he normally starts his workouts from Monday to Friday.

Okwiri has already received the blessings of the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission.

"I met the commission officials last week, we discussed at length all details pertaining to the fight so I'm going there with their full backing," Okwiri added.

Speaking to TeamKenya Okwiri highlighted that he has been having eight weeks of intense training as he prepares for the duel.

“I have prepared well enough as I have been on a training camp for about eight weeks and I think now I  am okay to face the challenge.”

I am waiting for next week as we travel to Ghana for the match and hopefully I shall bring the title back home,” Okwiri stated.

The kenyan boxer also pointed out that their team was working on scheduling another match in February 2022 hopefully after the December 26 match.

“Hopefully me and my team will be able to set another big match in Kenya in the first week of February 2022 which will be a title fight.”

He was keen to note that he is still without a sponsor but he is hopeful one will come to his aid to help financially.

“The main challenge that I am having at the moment is lack of a sponsor. At the moment I, together with my manager, have to use our own personal funds to make sure things run smoothly.”

“I would like to appeal to sponsors to come out and hopefully in future we shall bring big events here in Kenya,” he highlighted.

Okwiri thanked his fans for the support and asked them to put him in their prayers as he goes into the ring.

“To my fans, put me in your prayers and you know I have never let you down.”

“My body is fit and victory is ours, I am going to take the championship in his own country,” Okwiri confidently stated.
