Kenyan champion Carl "Flash" Tundo and Tim Jessop were among those feted at the FIA’s annual FIA Prize-Giving ceremony in Paris on Thursday, December 16. 
 
Carl Tundo and Tim Jessop scooped the FIA Africa Rally Championship crown as Robert Dewar on behalf of the Concours d’Elegance Kenya received the FIA Founding Members Club Heritage Cup

Tundo, who sealed the KCB National Rally Championship title in Il-Bissil at the weekend, will nevertheless not be feted for his KNRC success but for his stellar performance in the FIA Africa Rally Championship.  

The five-time Safari Rally winner became the second Kenyan after Jassi Chatthe to chalk up both the KNRC and ARC in one season.  

Tundo was feted alongside FIA global and regional champions including the likes of Max Verstappen who emerged Formula One champion. 

Tundo won four out of six events in the 2021 ARC to emerge as the new  African champion.He managed a tally of 120 points ahead of Uganda's Yaser Nasser (96) while Guy Boterill of South Africa finished third. 

Tundo won four back-to-back events thus Equator Rally Kenya, Rally Tanzania, Zambia International Rally and the penultimate Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally. 

The FIA Prize Giving ceremony is one of the year’s most anticipated events within the motor sport community. 

The event attracted champions from every major branch of motorsport who were honoured during the evening. 

Max Verstappen was officially crowned F1 World Champion at the FIA Prize-Giving Gala in Paris at the prize giving event. 

This was Jean Todt's last appearance at the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony as FIA President, as his term ends on December 17.
