Pitso Mosimane made history with Al Ahly after Caf Super Cup triumph over Raja Casablanca on Wednesday, December 22.
The South African became the first African coach in history to win back-to-back CAF Super Cup titles and the first African coach in history to lift the CAF Super Cup trophy three times.
In the process, the South African emulated legendary Portuguese coach Manuel Jose – who won three Caf Super Cups this time with the Egyptian Premier League outfit.
Pitso Mosimane, the head coach of Al Ahly, has been voted the Best African Club Coach of the Year for 2021 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
Al Ahly of Egypt edged Raja Casablanca of Morocco 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to win a CAF Super Cup.
Moreover, Al Ahly have lifted the Super Cup for a record eighth time as they now have reached their 25th international trophy, sitting just one behind European giants Real Madrid.
In a post match interview Mosimane noted that he was proud of his players especially as they took the penalties as practiced.
He also explained how Raja could have won the game if they had not chosen to play in a negative way.
Al Ahly head coach praised his players following their win over Raja Casablanca but said the Moroccans slipped the game from their hands.
“I feel good. I must first thank the players, we did practice the penalties and we took the same way we practiced it.”
“I think if Raja had played more, they would have had the chance to win, but they played to delay the game and sit on the floor,” Mosimane noted.
Mosimane also thanked the technical team, the supporters for putting the pressure all game, Bibo the Al Ahly president and his board for their support.
