Novak Djokovic might have shot himself on the foot after his visa to enter Australia was revoked as he arrived in Melbourne.
On Wednesday, January 5, Djokovic was held at the airport for not correctly completing the visa for medical exemptions.
The tennis star has been outspoken about Covid jabs in the past expressing his opposition toward vaccination.
Novak is at risk of missing the Grand Slam tournament, which he has won nine times, if he does not provide sufficient evidence to support why he should be exempted.
The Serbian has not received the vaccine against COVID-19 and has requested a medical exemption to play in the Australian Open.
The Australian Authority find themselves in a tight spot as they have to follow their regulations and laws for it not to be seen as if Djokovic is being given special treatment, different from the rest of the players and also the citizens.
The Victoria government granted him the alleged exemption, but that has caused most tennis players to have criticised such a decision.
The Australian Open was seen as a chance for Djokovic to win a Grand Slam tournament more than Nadal and Federer.
All this will bring a lot of controversy as the tournament sets to start on January 17. It is reported that more than forty percent of the tennis players got the vaccine, although many did not believe in vaccination.
Djokovic who had earlier announced his participation in the tournament through his social media platforms seems not have an easy time entering Australia.
