Kenya Morans star shooting guard Tylor Okari was a footballer in his early teen years, until a compound fracture brought this high-flying potential career to a screeching halt.

The 30-year-old basketballer received a dangerous tackle from an aggressive defender causing multiple fractures to his leg.

It took him 18 months to recover before switching gear and trying out basketball.

“After the injury I did not do surgery or anything. I put a cast on the leg and left it to heal naturally. It took a year and a half to recover.

When I was able to move freely, I did not have the strength I had previously and I was a bit scared. So naturally, I could not get back to playing football,” Okari stated earlier.

Taylor got good grades in high school after scoring a grade of  A- in KCSE where his dream was to be a pilot or an engineer but his love for sports would not allow.

The Kenyan basketballer has played for some big European teams. In his time at Kenya Morans he helped his team to the Africa Zone Five title, where he was named the MVP.

He also has helped the Kenyan basketball national team go to the FIBA AfroCan for the first time ever, where he was named in the dream team.

In 2019 he was named Most Valuable Player(MVP) in the country as a junior after he helped his team to participate in the Western Province championship for three consecutive years.

To date, as a senior, he is the all-time leading scorer at Friends School Kamusinga with an average of 24 points.
