Meet Little-Known 24 Yr-Old Kenyan Playing in UK Elite League

John Ayunga started his professional football career in July 2015, after he went on a trial at Dorchester Town and impressed the side in the pre-season.

The 24-year-old born in England to a Kenyan father and English mother made his debut in the League One in 2020 where he played for Bristol Rovers.

The Kenyan international sealed a transfer to League One side Morecambe FC from Bristol Rovers in July 2021.

So far in the 2021/2022 season the 24-year-old striker has found the net only five times having played 26 League games.

He earns a salary of Ksh8.7 million yearly at Morecambe FC with his weekly wage being Ksh168,115 making his monthly earning to Ksh672,460.

On July 19, 2015 he signed a twelve month contract with Dorchester Town. He made his Dorchester Town debut in the opening game of the season, scoring in a 3-0 win over Histon. 

By the time he was exiting Dorchester he had made 31 appearances with seven goals with then Dorchester manager, Mark Jermyn, describing him as an exciting young talent with the attributes of a strong and powerful centre forward. 

Ayunga has played for various clubs in Europe like Bristol Rovers, Sutton United and Brighton U-23. He also received his first international call up by Kenya in 2016. 

His side are currently struggling in the Sky Bet League One as they are positioned at 21 out of 24.
